The Catholic University of Korea Yeouido St. Mary's Hospital opened in 1936 with only four doctors who focused on internal medicine. It has played a leading role in the medical industry with the first successful cornea transplantation. It is the only university in Yeouido. The hospital and Metropolitan City signed a Memorandum of Understanding. It acquired the medical institution certificate from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. In the year 2015, Yeouido St. Mary’s Hospital and Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital became one hospital, introducing the one hospital system.

Spirituality, the unique value of Catholic medical institutions, is not found in other hospitals. Therefore this hospital distinguishes itself from other hospitals in terms of providing spiritual value and the latest medical equipment to those who visit. In addition to that, there are convenient facilities and religious facilities for its patients and family members.

The hospital has 31 clinical departments and 15 centers. In 2013, the hospital opened an international healthcare center for foreign patients.
